An EEG (Electroencephalogram) is a test that records the brains electrical activity. The EEG can detect changes that may support a clinical diagnosis of epilepsy, or other neurological conditions. Your referring doctor will request a type of EEG study that helps answer their question. The EEG is performed by experienced EEG scientist staff and reported by expert Neurologists. The EEG may include procedures including hyperventilation (deep breathing), and photic stimulation (flashing lights).
Routine EEG
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Purpose: Baseline assessment of brain activity in the awake state
Sleep Deprived / Nap EEG
Duration: 45-60 minutes
Purpose: Sleep deprived / Nap EEG increases the likelihood of detecting abnormal brain activity
